The Hold Steady’s Stay Positive streaming with artist commentary on IMEEM. One of my favorite current band and has potential to be my favorite album of the summer (once I can get it on my iPod :) ). Constructive Summer is a great summer anthem and there are a couple other instant hits for me on there. I just ordered the album today, so I’m hoping it will get here quickly.

So the backstory here is that Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher said that it was “wrong” for Jay-Z to perform at Glastonbury Festival, which traditionally has featured rock musicians. So Jay-Z opened with an accapella version of Oasis’ Wonderwall before cutting into his 99 Problems. Looks like a great show, I wonder if I can get [...]

Earlier this month the NPR podcast All Songs Considered released their annual year in review episode, which made me realize I have been listening to the show for 2 years now. I was shocked and excited when I read about Apple's decision not only allow Mac owners to install Windows on their machines, but also provide software to help them do it. This is certainly big news – so big it is the top story on the New York Times right now. Certainly this is a [...]

Due to my computer problems earlier this year, I lost a bit of my digital music collection including my Christmas music. So I have been trying to find stuff on iTunes and Napster to hold me over until I get home again. Here are some of my favorites. A Charlie Brown Christmas – This is [...]

Stumbled upon this very interesting post today about file sharing. A Harvard PhD student did a study on the effect of peer-to-peer file sharing. According to his research, file sharing does have an impact on the record sales of platinum artists, cutting their sales somewhat significantly. It helps smaller bands and artists though, with estimates [...]
